Jimmy DiPlacido for Commissioner Ward 4

ABOUT
Jimmy DiPlacido has lived in Abington’s Ward 4 for over 18 years.

Jimmy lives with his wife Lisa Kelley and their daughter Malayna in the McKinley section of Elkins Park.

Originally from Philadelphia, he attended Cardinal Dougherty High School and studied at West Chester University.

Jimmy currently is the Commissioner for Ward 4 and works for the American Red Cross as the Manager of Acquisition, Planning Scheduling.  He has been with this organization for nearly 20 years.  He also assists in coordinating blood drives and contributions for relief efforts from and for the Abington community.

In his spare time when he’s not having a catch, playing baseball, biking or participating in any other sport or activity you can name with the kids on his street, he’s the appointed:
  • Secretary of the Montgomery County Youth Board
  • Assistant Director of the Abington Public Safety Committee
  • Softball Commissioner for the East Abington Little League
“Jimmy D.”, as his friends and neighbors refer to him, has always been a proud representative, advocate and volunteer for his community.

Jimmy constently utilizes the internet, social media and good old fashioned ‘door-knocking’ and phone calls in order to communicate and keep the residents of Ward 4 informed.

In a time of global and national political uncertainty, it is most important for our local elected leaders that serve our community to remain steadfast in providing “good government” and the assurance and comfort that the services they enjoy and rely on as residents of our township will continue to improve and be maintained.

It is our responsibility to encourage sustainability and to preserve a fiscally sound budget in order to ensure public services such as police, schools, libraries, parks and recreation, sewage and water, waste and recycling, snow removal, and road and bridge maintenance are properly funded as the growing costs of goods, additional services, health care and retirement benefits increase yearly in a largely developed town.

In addition, it is ultimately important to persist as a municipality whose motto is “No Place For Hate” and remain welcoming, compassionate, and provide hope and a wonderful place to live and grow for all races, religions, sexual orientations, women, men, families and those suffering from the disease of addiction.

This is not a one-person effort. Together, let us continue the work we’ve started in Abington and move our community forward as a leading, first class Township in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”
